FV6A : Wins three and four put Chandhok in charge

Karun Chandhok claims he will go into the remainder of the Formula Renault V6 Asia season with his confidence high after a convincing maximum points haul at Zhuhai, a result that puts him top of the championship standings.

It has been a turbulent season for the Indian driver, who has now won four of the eight races, after various problems have seen him fail to capitalise on his strong form. Nonetheless, he looked imperious in China on the way to claiming a point for pole position and then go on to secure the 15 points for victory in both the Sprint and Grand races.

Battling through brake problems in practice, Chandhok was dominant in qualifying, claiming pole position by four tenths of a second from joint championship leader Ananda Mikola, while fellow leader Hamad Al Fardan was forced to start from the back after spinning.

However, while Chandhok eased to pole position, his race was a far tougher experience after Mikola remained on his tail throughout the 15 laps. Nonetheless, Chandhok came home the comfortable winner to pass his Indonesian rival in the standings by a single point.
